i'm getting more and more frustrated with the "hunt" that we've been doing for our
investigative journalism class. we're trying to trace a certain copyrighted story
because we have a feeling a certain palanca winner plagiarized it. we've already
seen the two copies- the original dated 1995, which was a short story and the
alleged plagiarized one- 2000 copy in a one act play format. we were able to
interview the original author and it turned out that she knows about it all along.
she gave her consent that the palanca awardee use it as an entry to another
contest. only when it won, she wasn't recognized. i doubt if the palanca guy
even informed the organizers it was only based on a short story. despite this,
ok lang.
.
the story was about a surrogate mother... a baby maker who get all fucked up
for nothing. she carries the baby of a particular man for 9 months and will give
it to him after she had given birth. just like that... so easy. the greatest analogy
i've heard so far was what leidy said yesterday. "pare ang lumalabas parang
siya yung babymaker dun sa story nya. gumagawa siya nung mga kuwento
nya tos ipapamigay lang nya ng ganun. parang baby. tos iba ang makikinabangan.
.
its really a long story and we havent actually written the special reports part of
this investigation. i wouldn't go into details coz i dont want to pre-empt things.
basta. nakakaasar. parang kami pa yung nakikipaglaban dun sa recognition
na dapat sa kanya. kse maganda talaga yung story. kse marunong syang
mag sulat. kse may talent sya. and it took a fat old man's lame convincing act
for her to give it up.
.
i am so disappointed.
