"Early in the morning of September 29, 2000, Maningning, a published
author, prize-winning artist and art teacher at Far Eastern University,
was at the seventh floor of FEU's Institute of Architecture and Fine
Arts. She walked to the building's ledge, took off her shoes and neatly
put them to one side. She sat down on the ledge. Then, she stepped
up, grabbed the railing and suspended herself, the earth to her back.
She made the Sign of the Cross. Then she let go."
